"To those who cry out against romance I would say--you are romance. You are the lost prince herding obscurely among the swine. The romance of your spirit is the most wonderful of stories."
hmm, insightful. those who hate passion are passionate about hating it, and those who wish to be alone wish others to be alone as well .. . strange how humanity works.
Hahaha, very true. As Kate says, in Taming of the Shrew: "Am I to dance barefoot at my sister's wedding? Is my fate to lead apes in hell?" [popular superstitions of the time for old maids] hahaha
Yes, that's a great one! My daughter Emilie played Kate in a college production here two years ago. She wasn't completely insulted when her brother and I told her that it was typecasting... :-) I love Kate's last lines in the play: "...And place your hand below your husband's foot: in token of which duty, if he please, my hand is ready: may it do him ease."

ReplyDeleteYes,something akin to "Methinks the lady doth protest too much"... :-)

ReplyDeleteHahaha, very true.
