The Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Candlemas Day)

"An old man was carrying a Child;  but the Child was the old man's Lord."

-Saint Augustine, from the Mass of February 2

  1. you're not supposed to say the A word between Septuagesima (last Sunday) and the Paschal Vigil!

  2. Thank you, Patricius, for the rubrical reminder; I've duly corrected the post. Happy feast day, and may God bless you.

  3. You've piqued my curiosity-what "A" word? And how did it fit into this post?

Before I read the comment I was thinking what an interesting quote this was, but now, I can't help thinking about what I'm missing!

  4. Alleluia is the "a" word which isn't said from Septuagesima Sunday until the Easter vigil. I had included this "a" word in my post until Patricius pointed out my mistake.
