To me the word "solitudes" brings to mind the idea of very strong oneness. When you bring together two separate entities, they should be able to "protect, touch and greet". This is the ideal, however that is not always the case. The giving of these qualities to another means opening up one's separateness and allowing someone else in. This oneness is our human condition, but we long for the bond that occurs when we learn how to open up ourselves to another person.
I love that thought-"two solitudes". To me it seems like two separate worlds, two separate thoughts, but joined together. Very lovely.
