To love is to risk not being loved in return. To hope is to risk pain. To try is to risk failure, but risk must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.

We naturally think of love in the romantic sense, and of course, this is true.
But there is so much more to love that we MUST consider. It is worth the risk to love those who are desperately, obscenely poor in places like Haiti, where children are raped and sold, where thousands are dying of cholera, where families have been living in tent cities for months and months after the earthquake.
We have to take the risk of living much less well so that we can substantially love - help the truly poor.
It is worth the risk, it really is, and so many millions need us to take that risk, really to jump off the cliff of our prosperity so that they can have some tiny bit of hope.
So wonderfully true! This gives me Hope. ;)
