The best of a book is not the thought which it contains, but the thought which it suggests; just as the charm of music dwells not in the tones but in the echoes of our hearts. --Oliver Wendell Holmes
Absolutely agree with this idea At some point, when I re-read a familiar book, I changed my first impression. This may be the result of the growth process or, possibly, a different mood. I acknowledge that I received much help in choosing my first readings. I like what the Apostle Paul says, "Prove all things, hold fast what is good"
Books, at least my favorite ones, are almost like friends. I carry a very special one with me to Mass each day; I call it "my dear book." Thank you all for writing. As always, your comments are so wise and beautiful. May Almighty God bless you and your dear ones.
THIS is very true, ...my experience!
ReplyDeleteBooks suggest thoughts. Then they ignite the imagination. Then ideas begin to flow. Then something happens!
