Our prayers

“Our prayers should be for blessings in general, for God knows best what is good for us."

  1. Socrates was pretty wise for a pre-Christian philosopher. I've often thought it is best to ask God's blessings and leave the details to him. So often what we ask for will not be good for us. Sometimes, I think, we don't even know where to begin, so we should just throw ourselves at his feet and plead for his love and mercy.

  2. God knows what is best for us and we do not. Sometimes my prayers sound like ultimatums. ~~~~ Please God do this or if You don't, then could You do this?? ~~~~ That is not wise. God never needs us to tell Him what to do or how to do it. Every day and night I pray for His mercy because in my ignorance and arrogance I know nothing on my own.

  3. The Bible teaches: "Pray without ceasing." But, God is not like a old man, who forget, all of things
I have struggled to move from the list of requests and the list of complaints, until the list of thanks. To say "Thy will be done" with full conviction that indeed, God will do it.
It is difficult the leap of faith which means to see bitter water will be sweet because of the tree of the cross (like in Mara)
    God is awesome!

    (Hannah, you are so sweet!)

  4. Such truth to these words....how can we know what we truly need? We know what we want-but what we need is far different, and far more unexpected.
