Mankind sometimes "hears" the snow as the world becomes different - the swish of snow plows, the whir of cars spinning out of control, the yelling and laughter of children sledding down snow covered hills. Nature does not "hear" this. It "hears" the hush as a certain peace descends upon the earth.
