His words...

Words of encouragement from Our Lord to me while adoring Him in the Most Blessed Sacrament this morning in His Mother's chapel:

"We walk by faith, not by sight."

Lead on, kindly Light...

Gentleness...

"I learned that it is the weak who are cruel, and gentleness is to be expected only from the strong."

--Leo Rosten

Still...

"A bit of fragrance still clings to the hand which held the rose."

--Arabic proverb

Home... .

The sky is so beautiful tonight with mauve-swept clouds slowly drifting all around a brilliant sliver of silver moon. The branches and leaves of the trees frame the whole in a circle of gracefulness, a wondrous portal into the night sky. The breeze is cool, a sea-breeze it seems. How strange to feel it here in the midst of the prairie; but no stranger perhaps than seeing a seagull flying above my head as I walked the country lane. I saw one yesterday, heard its plaintive cry as it sailed above me. By now it is surely home again. And that is where I am, home once more, writing these words beneath a canopy of stars on midnight blue. Home again from the sea...

Reality

Can it be
that I am not
as real to you
as you are
to me?

Only a dream---

"Life is only a dream: soon we shall awaken. And what joy! The greater our sufferings, the more limitless our glory. Oh! do not let us waste the trial Jesus sends."

--Saint Therese of Lisieux

Summer days

Summer days, take my breath away.
Drain all doubt from me.
Drench me in drops of sunlight.
Drive away the darkness.
Show me what I must see.

The heart asks...

The heart asks questions
not easily answered,
not answered at all,
crying out to know.
Silence casts a pall
as the music plays
in the secret hall, and
heartfelt tears begin to flow.

With apologies to the author...

"But love is not about security. Love is ever about risk, it seems. And maybe those who find love are those who are bold enough to really seek it."

Rain

The rain is raining all around,
It falls on field and tree,
It rains on the umbrellas here,
And on the ships at sea.

Your voice

Calm and comforting,
with depth and passion, too:
I hear you and all is well.
Strong and steadying,
so certain and so true
your voice leads me;
all is well.

Remembering...

The violet cries in perfumed tears
at the nearness of his step,
delighting as she feels its weight
upon her upturned face.
Love's fragrance is a balm
which replaces pain with joy;
it is carried on the wind.
He breathes it in, remembering;
and, looking down, he sees the one
whom he has crushed
glimmering in the dust of dreams.
She seems to smile at him,
her shining eyes meet his.
With eager tenderness, he lifts his prize
and holds her to to his heart,
where she rests like a child.
Enfolded in his arms, she is
safe-- home at last.

I wonder..

just where that toy boat of yours is now.

Goodbye...

A beautifully sad snippet of a soundtrack, strangely appropriate just now:

I suppose...

In the end, it will always be
the way it is supposed to be.
Just wait and see.

Home from the sea...

I had not known
until today
how many ways there are
of being
far away.

Wait and see..

Up in the air--
it's where I am.
and where I'll be.
"Wait and see," you say.
I will, dear friend.
You never know
just what you'll find
at journey's end.
