Winter birds

I heard the birds singing

in frozen trees;

and I wondered how

in bitter cold,

with Spring so far away,

such hope could move those tiny hearts

to sing for joy unseen.

  2. Birds do not worry. They only trust, ney, know, that Spring is coming. It is the certainty expressed in the confession of faith, "Christ has died, Christ has risen, Christ will come again."
    It is the trust that God keeps His promises and will not let Winter take us all.

  3. I love it! Reminds me a bit of a haiku I did with a similar theme and put up on YouTube.

  4. Thank you for your beautiful comments, Eutychus. These cold Winter days are perfect for Lenten purgation, as through it all we await the rebirth which only Easter can bring. And thank you, Dymphna, for sharing your work; your YouTube Haiku is amazing!
