Feast of Saint Nicholas

“Charity never humiliated him who profited from it, nor ever bound him by the chains of gratitude, since it was not to him but to God that the gift was made.”

--Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Saint Nicholas, pray for us.

  1. I didn't get this at first, but now I get it. Charity is love with God at the center, God in the focus, so the intermediate recipient is not humiliated nor bound by the gift. I like that.

It's that false charity, where God isn't really part of the equation, that causes a burden to the recipient.

    Thank you!

  2. I quite like the meaning of charity in this one...because helping another is a gift worthy of God, is it not?
