Once upon a time...

Once upon a time

you weren't afraid to cry.

There is no happily ever after

for those who never try.

Happiness awaits if you

embark upon the quest.

You risk losing what is real

when you risk nothing else.

(After all is said and done, the only way to live happily ever after is to happily live each day.)

Setting Sail

One ship sails East,
And another West,
By the self-same winds that blow.
'Tis the set of the sails
And not the gales,
That tells the way we go.

Like the winds of the sea
Are the waves of time,
As we journey along through life.
'Tis the set of the soul,
That determines the goal,
And not the calm or the strife.
--Ella Wheeler Wilcox

A blessed thing...

“A blessed thing it is for any man or woman to have a friend, one human soul whom we can trust utterly, who knows the best and worst of us, and who loves us in spite of all our faults.”

--Charles Kingsley

Frost Moon

November's full moon is called the frost moon; it feels that way tonight, as a chill in the air gives a hint of the snows to come. The moon is so beautiful that I would stay to watch it for a while longer, but a hot cup of tea and the warmth of Rivendell call me away for now. Goodnight, moon.

The Precious Gift of Time

What a precious gift is time!

Each moment is a jewel upon the sea,

borne up for one bright moment by the foam

then gone, seen henceforth but in memory.

The number of our days on earth is fixed,

the time allotted for the journey home.

How beautifully they shine, those days!

See them dancing there upon the waves

as with the tide they come, then go.
